St Ive Parish CouncilWelcome to the official website of St. Ive Parish CouncilThe parish of St lve is at the northern end of the Caradon district northeast of the town of Liskeard and is situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor. St. Ive is a large rural parish of approximately 9 sq miles has a population of 2200, the majority residing in the principal villages of Pensilva and St lve. Access by road is via the A390 and the B3254. Pensilva has the largest population of the parish and is served by its own primary school, health centre, a large community centre which includes a sports hall, conference and function suites and a bar. Pensilva also has its own village hall, post office and cemetery The village of St. lve has its own village hall and playing field. There are churches located in both villages and the parish has two public houses. Parish Councils are the first tier of local democracy. The government is seeking to encourage the development of sustainable communities and give those communities a greater say in the way their neighbourhoods are managed. This is a unique opportunity for parish councils to play their part in the delivery of local services. St Ive Parish Council began the process of giving the local community a voice through the surveys and public forums that eventually led to the production of a Parish Plan. The Parish Plan will be revisited whenever any decision is made affecting the local community, but the plan should not he considered set in stone. No community stands still, some change is inevitable because the people that make up a community, themselves grow and develop presenting new challenges and increased expectations. Local services will need to reflect the community's higher expectations. Printer Friendly Version
